Springy takes over the End-Stop variety show...

Maybe some exciting new music? Maybe some K Records? Well, actually that really isn't a choice.

Track Artist Song Album Label
14 Lali Puna To Rococo Rot Remix I Thought I Was Over That: Rare, Remixed and B-Sides Morr Music Off of a great Lali Puna compilation, this is their To Rococo Rot remix, and it is pretty awesome. It sort of expands on the elements that make LP great.
2 Mum Sing Along Sing Along to Songs You Don't Know Warner Chappell This new Mum album is, if anything more of the same from these guys. Maybe there is a bit less of a lack of electronic sounds, but that is the only discernable difference.
17 Various Artists Club 8 - If You Say Guitar Sketch Quince Crazy good cut from these Swedish geniuses. Released on the Quince label, who are worth checking out if you love this sort of music. Based in Japan though, so you may need to be well-heeled to get some of their releases.

8 V/A Heavens to Betsy - My Red Self Kill Rock Stars Kill Rock Stars Heavens to Betsy back in the day, laying down the best track on this comp by far (beats Nirvana, Courtney Love, Mecca Normal, Bikini Kill, Kicking Giant tracks by a mile)
3 Vivian Girls Can't Get Over You Everything Goes Wrong In The Red Records New Vivian Girls is cleaner, instrumentally stronger, much less lo-fi, and message-laden. Yeah, we all pretty much expected this second record would suck....  *new arrival
5 Red Cross Notes&Chords Mean Nothing to Me/Puss and Boots '79-'82 7" S/R Red KROSSSSSSSSS. Yeah. No, but these guys were way awesome and somewhat influential
5 The Raveonettes Heart of Stone In and Out of Control Vice Brand new, very awesome Raves. This new LP is probably better than Chain Gaing and Lust Lust Lust, but probably not Whip It On or Pretty in Black. Still, it is all just candy at this point.

3 V/A The Seductive - K-I-L-L Project:Echo K Records KLP 55 is a compilation of International Pop Underground 7" b-sides. Wow! Kicking Giant, Mecca Normal, SVS, Belmondo and Softies tracks are especially good.
1 Thee Headcoatees Ca Plan Pour Moi Ca Plan Pour Moi 7" Sympathy for the Record Industry Billy Childish's heroes bang out a solid Plastic Bertrand cover. Yeah, it might oversimplify the song a bit, but whatevs
3 Red Sleeping Beauty The Chime Song Sick & Tired 7" Siesta This 7" from 1998 pretty much summarizes what makes RSB great. Sort of like the more disco-y Trembling Blue Stars cuts, but even better. Yaya fro consistent swedish pop.
3 The Receptionists Wink, Wink Keep Your Secrets EP Harriet Records Yeah! More int he vein of Thee Headcoatees, but with that folky edge that the Harriet Records affiliation adds. i really like this 7", even though I only just found out about it.

10 Yo La Tengo Sleeping Pill May I Sing With Me Alias Records Yo La Tengo construct a long scorcher to cap their excellent 1992 LP. Upside-Down features QUITE prominently on the a-side.
2 Maya Red and White Maya Discalcula MAYa's impressive second 10" is an expansion of the concepts that made me so happy in "Y". Yes!  *new arrival
3 Colin Newman Alone A-Z Beggars Banquet The "4th Wire LP" is far better than you'd expect it to be. I found out about this song because of the excellent This Mortal Coil cover. Anyway, good times all around, though I am glad that Wire got back together (Kidney Bingos!)

1 Go Sailor Don't Go Don't Go 7" Lookout Records Yeah, these guys had a couple "essential" 7"s back in the late 90s. This is the sort of music that Yay! Records puts out today, but better.
