Show Description for Tuesday 11/13/2007

Rory O'Dwyer and Rex Dufour talk about ATTRA, the National Sustainable Agriculture Information Service, and the recent funding cuts they've experienced.

Tianna Dupont talks to Alan Forkey from the National Resource Conservation Service and Sid Staunton, an innovative farmer from Tulelake, about a Conservation Innovation Grants program called the Walking Wetlands Project. The Walking Wetlands project is a partnership between local farmers and agencies including the NRCS National Resource Conservation Service to preserve the economic viability of their farms while increasing access to wildlife habitat for migrating water fowl. As part of the walking wetlands project cropland is flooded on a seasonal basis. Flooding provides habitat to water fowl and helps farmers improve soil quality and manage pests and disease.
