This coming week, I have a very special radio program. Free Coffee, Monday night/Tuesday morning from midnight-2am will be dedicated to Yom HaAtzma'ut (Israel’s 60th birthday) and will feature several guests. My good friends Mike Steinman and Ryan Loewen will be performing live in the studio, playing a variety of classic Israeli rock. I’m not sure the exact tunes, but knowing them, I am certain there will be some Kaveret in the set. Also, I am very lucky to be joined by Hillel’s Israel Programs Director and close friend Yonatan Barkan for an interview and a discussion of the Israeli music scene. He will also DJ some Israeli music, which will be great since he is very knowledgeable on the subject (did I mention he speaks flawless Evrit?). I told him to prepare a 45 minute set, but at the level of proficiency with which all the guests speak, we will be lucky to fit in half that set.
Anyway, I am very excited for the show. Feel free to call us in the studio and make requests and/or just say what’s up – the number is (530)754-KDVS. The show can be heard in the Davis area on KDVS 90.3 fm or streamed live at www.kdvs.org. If you click on the ‘schedule grid’ on the left side, you can click on ‘Free Coffee’ for more information. Also, if you happen to miss it, the show can be streamed anytime afterwards on the same page.
