The Jesters of Memphis are one of the lesser known bands to have recorded for the legendary Sun label in its latter days. Some might know Sun as the label that initially had Elvis, Johnny Cash, or Jerry Lee Lewis. Others might know of the bevy of rare and amazing 50s R&B and rockabilly that they recorded. Perhaps least known is that the label kept on into the 60s with quite a handful of 60s garage bands including the Jesters. The guitarist for the Jesters was label owner Sam Phillip's son Jerry. Recently (and thankfully, to Ace) some of the Memphis sounds have been reissued and we'll hear Memphis aplenty tonight!!
