KDVS Style!

In a rare move, Mad Max preps his show in the vein of many of his fellow KDVS DJ's: from the currents section of the library and from recommendations from Pitchfork Media. If you deem Max's grand experiment a success, tell him. 

Jangle Pop

In the jingle jangle morning I'll come following you with the crisp sweet notes of pure guitar melody. Brandon Key from the Christopher Cabaldon Campaign sheds some light on local Davis politics.

Hopefully you've heard the blissful wash of classic shoegaze. We'll take a look at what people have done with the sound since the original scene broke up. The first half of the show is a tromp through styles that should be integrated into shoegaze while the second half covers bands ranging from doom metal to electronica to psych pop that have refashioned the sound to their own purposes. Local writer Adam Kendall reads his newest short stories and I read a shoegaze-y poem of my own.

There is also an inexplicable affinity for violins...

Krautrock

This show is directed at you Pink Floyd fans out there. Krautrock was a German progressive rock movement that integrated avant garde music ideas with rock, their influence eventually spawning electronica, industrial, ambient and much of modern experimental rock. This will of course be accompanied by a reading from Grimm's Fairy Tales. DJ Edgy joins my show for some beatboxing and Brandon Key from the Davis College Democrats plays pundit on the Democratic Primaries.

A couple years ago I thought country music sucked. A few months ago I didn't understand why certain artists I respected thought so much of it. Those days are over. The Country Rock show has arrived. This is for those of you who don't think you like country and for those who love country and think you understand country rock. Prepare yourselves for the wildest odyssey yet.
