Wet Ink, Summerfest 2012

Today is the centenary of the birth of Alan Mathison Turing, OBE, FRS, generally considered to be the father of computer science.

He was tortured and hounded to probable suicide for his homosexuality in 1950s Britain. Prime Minister Gordon Brown made an official public apology for his treatment in 2009 after an Internet campaign on Turing's behalf.
