NFL Pick'em Week 12

This week Grace Sprague and Trevor Kuss make a return, with first time picker Chris Emmett. Happy Turkey Day from everyone at KDVS Sports!

New England @ Detroit:
Grace Sprague: Patriots. Expect Tom Brady and Danny Woodhead to march all over the Lions’ subpar defense.
Chris Emmett: New England. As long as the Patriots have Tom Brady & Bill Belichick running the show, they are contenders. This year their showing everyone again why the duo won 3 rings, went to 4 superbowls, and went 16-0 in 2007. Detroit? Bad team in a bad division. Nothing special.
Trevor Kuss: Patriots. The Pats have shown that they can still win without Randy Moss, and the Lions are at least another 3 years away from being a good team.

New Orleans @ Dallas:
Grace Sprague: Saints. The Saints can stop the one good thing the Cowboys have going for them — the passing game.
Chris Emmett: Dallas. I HATE Dallas (Philly Homer) but I’m still picking them to win in my surprise pick. John Kitna leads the newly rejuvenated Cowboys under Jason Garrett to a big win over the superbowl champs who beat up on back to back crappy teams.
Trevor Kuss: Saints. The holy team from the unholy town may have struggled this year, but a team in pieces like the Cowboys shouldn’t pose to bit of a problem for them.

Cincinnati @ NY Jets:
Grace Sprague: Jets. Because.
Chris Emmett: New York Jets. SANCHIZEE.
Trevor Kuss: Bengals. I think Palmer and his two crazy Wideouts will be pumped up to salvage any part of their season and a win against a top team like the Jets would go a long way to doing that.

Green Bay @ Atlanta:
Grace Sprague: Packers. Rogers — averaging roughly 250 passing yards per game — has what it takes to find a weak spot in Falcons’ defense.
Chris Emmett: Green Bay. Green Bay has been playing really well; four consecutive wins Rodgers throwing over 280 yards
Trevor Kuss: Falcons. This will be a close matchup of top NFC team, but I am a believer in the Dave Anderson stat of the week and Matty Ice does not lose at home.

Pittsburgh @ Buffalo:
Grace Sprague:  Steelers. Steelers will enter Ralph Wilson Stadium with a lot of momentum after manhandling the Raiders on Sunday.
Chris Emmett: Pittsburgh. Buffalo is garbage, Pittsburgh is playing smash mouth Steelers football again (#1 Rush Defense in the league). Big Ben is the perfect quarterback for this system.
Trevor Kuss: Steelers. I wouldn’t be surprised if the upstart Bills were able to steal one here... ok that was a bad joke, but I seriously think they could potentially upset the Steelers. That being said I gotta go with Big Ben.

Carolina @ Cleveland:
Grace Sprague: Panthers. This is the Panthers’ chance to beat another mundane football team in the Browns.
Chris Emmett: Cleveland. Who cares? (I apologize to all three Cleveland & Carolina fans who read this)
Trevor Kuss: Browns. Two Words: Peyton Hillis.

Jacksonville @ NY Giants:
Grace Sprague: Jaguars. Just to mix things up a bit.
Chris Emmett: New York Giants. New York looking to rebound after a tough lose to the eagles; the defense will shut down the overrated Jacksonville Jags.
Trevor Kuss: Giants. The Jags just aren’t that good.

Minnesota @ Washington:
Grace Sprague: Vikings. Interim coach Leslie Frazier could bring new and exciting things to Minnesota.
Chris Emmett: Minnesota. New Coach, Bret Favre attempting to salvage SOME of his legacy, average at best Washington team. Vickings win.
Trevor Kuss: Redskins. I think the Vikings will be playing better with their new coach, but I also think Brett Favre has nothing left in the tank.

Tennessee @ Houston:
Grace Sprague: Titans. Tennessee has the shorter losing streak at this point.
Chris Emmett: Houston. Fisher needs to keep his team in check. The titans need to keep Arian Foster in check. Houston wins
Trevor Kuss: Texans. I’m probably the only person left on the Texans bandwagon. After a great start to the year their horrid secondary has been taken advantage of by almost every team they have played. After the Vince Young problem I think the Texans are able to simply put more up on the scoreboard than a regrouping Titans offense.

Kansas City @ Seattle:
Grace Sprague: Chiefs. Dwayne Bowe = stud
Chris Emmett: Kansas City. Average Chiefs beat a bad Seahawk team.
Trevor Kuss: Seahawks. I literally flipped a coin for this game. Both teams are solid but have weakspots. I think the Hawks find a way to win at home.

Miami @ Oakland:
Grace Sprague:  Raiders. Maybe a home crowd in Oakland can bring out the Raiders’ offense this week.
Chris Emmett: Oakland. Raider’s having their best season in awhile, Miami can’t find a quarterback. Let’s keep piling the W’s on for Oakland.
Trevor Kuss: Raiders. Dolphins are going to need someone better under center than Tyler Thigpen if they hope to compete against a vastly improved Raiders team.

St. Louis @ Denver:
Grace Sprague:  Broncos. Something good needs to happen in Denver after a Monday night beating.
Chris Emmett: Denver. Neither team is that great…..
Trevor Kuss: Rams. I’ll admit I’m biased but both teams have shown that they have a lot to improve so I’m going to have to go with the Rams stealing one on the Road

Philadelphia @ Chicago:
Grace Sprague:  Eagles. Chicago’s defense won’t be quite strong enough to stop a team that averages 150 rushing yards and 250 in the air.
Chris Emmett: Philadelphia. Michael Vick the messiah continues his biblical journey on the way to his and the Philadelphia Eagle’s first superbowl. Poor Chicago is just standing in the way.
Trevor Kuss: Eagles. They seem to be the front runner for best team in the NFC this year, and Mike Vick has been playing better than he ever did in Atlanta.

Tampa Bay @ Baltimore:
Grace Sprague:  Buccaneers. Tampa Bay didn’t yield at all to San Francisco in last week’s 21-0 win.
Chris Emmett: Baltimore. Joe Flaccooo and Raven Defense beat Tampa Bay in a close and exciting game.
Trevor Kuss: Ravens. Despite being a fan of Josh Freeman and the Bucs, I can’t pick against my pre-season AFC champion. I think the Ravens win a somewhat close game and both young QBs on the field have good games.

San Diego @ Indianapolis:
Grace Sprague:  Colts. Philip Rivers is ugly!
Chris Emmett: Indianapolis. Peyton Manning is still peyton manning, and his colts don’t lose when it counts. This week, it counts. At the same time, it’s San Diego and it’s November. This game is going to be interesting.
Trevor Kuss: Colts. It’s hard to pick against the Chargers this time of year, but I think the Colts will find a way to win, Peyton Manning is the more important to his team than any other player in the NFL.

San Francisco @ Arizona:
Grace Sprague:  49ers. It’s the right time for San Francisco to get a win on the road.
Chris Emmett: San Francisco. Why not? Why. Not.
Trevor Kuss: Cards. I think Fitz finds the end zone at least once, but mostly the NFC West shows just how below average the entire division
