So I am in the afterglow of a perfect radio show from last night. I know, it sounds like I am tooting my own horn, but I say it is perfect because my friend Pterozaktyl (aka Needle-in-a-HayZack) co-hosted with me and we had a ton o' fun on and off the air, and there was a lot of booty-shakin' going on. If only radio were TV, you could have seen our wacky antics but you just have to settle for the audio...
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas FUNDRAISER down at KDVS! Fundraiser is that special time of year in which we ask for your support to our humble radio station to help keep us alive for another year. Fundraiser is April 19th-25th, just a few days away! We are assembling thank you packages of music CDs in anticipation of your donation! I spent over an hour down at KDVS today with my pals Riot, Klinger and Oddy Knocky making punk CD packages for you. Some folks are entering stuff into computers, some people are rubberbanding stuff together (that's what I was doing), and some people are shooting at each other with Nerf guns. In addition to CDs, we have records, T-shirts, books... and for $100 you can host your own 1-hour radio show or record your band in our world-famous Studio A! Or you can have your wedding DJ'ed! I am going to be a wedding DJ in June, as a matter of fact. (What's that phrase? "Always the wedding DJ, never the bride?") But I digress. The point I wanted to make is, you should donate to KDVS because you wanna keep us around, and imagine the horror of turning on your radio one day and we're not there! If ya love it, ya gotta support it or it could all go away.
I strongly encourage you to listen to KDVS during this week because it is the funnest week out of the year, where you will hear intriguing propositions, kee-razy stunts, and perhaps even some unfortunate karaoke. It's tax-deductible, you can pay by cash, check, credit card and you can even have us send you an invoice for later, if you happen to be broke right now.
As for the subject line of this post, this is the food for thought I am referring to. I was reading the Wall Street Journal today, and in their "Weekend Journal" section, they were talking about one particular band who is endorsed by multimillion dollar companies. I don't know if this is the future of music on other radio stations but it is looking pretty bleak when bands seek endorsements like NASCAR drivers. I like my rock'n'roll real. Please help me keep it that way. Don't forget to donate to KDVS. Please click here for the article.
Love,
Calamity Janie
