The proposed KDVS tower is facing opposition from local environmental groups. They feel that the placement at the Yolo County Central Landfill will cause significant environmental impacts and think there is a better place for the tower.
The truth is that not only is there no alternative at this point, and Environmental Impact Report found that the tower would have no impact or an insignificant impact on the environment. The tower is being fitted with the best technology to avoid bird strikes and the like-- Results Radio even changed the tower's design to a freestanding tower from the less bird friendly guy-wired design.
The focus of the Board's hearing will be narrow: 1) was there any change to the project since its initial approval and 2) was there a significant change to the environment around the project? The answer to both of these questions is no and the appeal should be denied and the tower should be approved.
