KDVS News and Aggie TV Present: The Year in Review: Pepper Spray Incident Forum DIscussion Friday November 30th 4:30-6:00PM

KDVS News and Aggie TV are collaborating to provide a platform for mulit-perspective, integrated discussion on the infamous Pepper Spray incident of November 18th, 2012. Both KDVS News and Aggie TV were highly involved in coverage of this event, and we believe it would be valuable to use the anniversary as an opportunity to re-open discourse on the very relevant issues represented by this event.

This panel discussion will air on November 30th from 4:30-6:00PM live on KDVS 90.3FM and kdvs.org. Video coverage will be provided by AggieTV, and will be made available at aggietv.org.

We will be hosting representatives from many sides on this issue. Staff, administration, student government, and student organizers will all participate in order to structure this as a productive discussion. The Pepper Spray Incident has had far-reaching effects for UC Davis and the way our campus deals with student demonstrations. This forum will highlight how this single incident has affected students and the entire community, and how things have changed in the year following it. We are inviting members of the Davis community to submit questions for the panelists.

What's Your Favorite Song?

By: Estefania Alvarez

Everyone has at least one song that matters. It hits that chord inside of you that just reminds you of your saddest or happiest moments. You play it on repeat until your ears bleed the lyrics, but you listen to it months later and it’s as if you just heard it for the first time yesterday. All you music nerds and cynical nihilists will probably ask why this even matters, but be honest with yourselves my fellow music lovers! Some of the songs you have passively skipped on the radio or light heartedly listen to while browsing the internet mean something. They mean something to the person who let you borrow their pencil during that Geology GE or helped you up after you tragically and embarrassingly fell off your bike (we’ve all crashed on our sweet rides, don’t even lie). Music binds us, not divides us and these songs matter:

Erykah Badu- Next Lifetime
The Velvet Underground- Oh! Sweet Nuthin’
Interpol- Leif Erickson
Friends and Lovers- Incubus

Typhoon Comes To Davis

Typhoon, a 13 person band hailing from Portland, Oregon, stopped by Armadillo Records this weekend to play an acoustic set before their headlining show at The G Street Wunderbar later that evening.  Although their set was acousitc, they still brought out their full band, cramming over 11 musicians into Armadillo. Complete with trumpets, drums, acoustic guitars, and violins, Typhoon truly filled up the store with their sounds.  They were touring to promote their new 7inch "Common Sentiments" that came out on the label Tender Loving Empire in late October.

Davis was their last stop in California before heading back up to Oregon, but make sure to check them out next time they come on through.  They put on a fantastic live show, and it's always amusing to see how they fit all their members in the venue.

You can check out their sweet tunes at http://www.wearetyphoon.com
