KDVS MLB Season Awards

It’s that time of the year. After all the excitement and heart-pounding games in the playoffs, the hot-stove season has started. Like every year, before the marquee free agents sign their gigantic contracts, the seasonal awards are in the process of slowly being released. Here at KDVS Sports we thought we’d put our two cents in on who we think is deserving of the top 4 awards. We had 10 ballots entered, mostly from the KDVS Sports Department but also including some guest opinions from the California Aggie.

NFL Pick'em Week 10

We’ve got the early Thursday game this week so the picks are coming out a few days before they normally do. Jason Alpert is back as our guest opinion from the California Aggie and we have Joey Kistler, Jack Dale, and Kartar Singh with picks also.

Women's Volleyball falls to Big West rival

The Aggies came into the weekend needing to pick up a big win against Long Beach State to stay relevant in the chase for the Big West conference crown. Unfortunately, they didn’t get it. They did, however retain their reputation as a gritty team that doesn’t surrender anything easily.

On the Outside Looking In

Walking from Wellman headed to the library,

It’s the day after Halloween, campus shouldn’t be this scary.

And though the ghouls and ghosts are no longer on attack,

There is still a plethora of people wearing orange, and black.

These colors hold a certain connotation in the bay,

And bring back memories of a kid who used to say “hey!”

You can’t run if you can’t walk: a focus on the baby steps

While you hate to mail in a season before the final game is played, it’s clear that the Aggies have already fallen short of their preseason goal of defending a Great West Conference title and getting their shot at the playoffs.

Now, as coach Bob Biggs says, their backs are to the walls, and the Aggies will learn a little bit about themselves as they move into the last three games of the season.

The focus has changed: UC Davis now looks to finish the season, not with the conference crown, but simply with a 6-5 winning record, a step in the right direction.

Based on some aspects of the most recent 55-24 loss to Southern Utah Saturday night, this goal is by no means out of reach, though the Aggies may need to consider tweaking a few things here and there to make this goal a reality. The following is my to-do list for the Ags leading up to their final games of the season:
